
New Years is a great celebration all around the world. It is the time were everyone can get a 2nd chance. People make New Years resolutions to be better. On 12:00 o'clock, January 1st, it is the new year . On New Years the year changes and go's up 1. On New Years, people set off fireworks and put up tons of lights. It is always a happy day. That is what happens on New Years. New years is when a culture celebrates the end of one year and the beginning of the next. The Babylonyians were one of the first to celebrate New Years, but they called it a "New Moon." This happened right when the Vernal Equinox starts. There is no real cultural backround of January 1st. It is just the New Year for some. For some it's is a rebirth, a time to plant new crops, and the time of blossoming. Babylonian's New Years lasted for 11 days. Everyday was a different celebration for them. In 153 B.C. the Roman Senate declared January 1st the start of a New Year.
