My Top Five Hobbies
1. Reading
Of all my hobbies, I like reading best. I read whenever I
have free time, and I even have a favorite place to read in.
It is a small, attic-like place next to my room. I like it
because it is quiet there, and nobody goes in there except
me.
My favorite book is Harry Potter. I read each one of the
seven books about three times. I like fictional books with
some magic and a little bit of humor, and the Harry Potter
books have it all.
2. Writing Songs and Poems
Sometimes, when I am alone, I find myself
singing a made up song, or recite a poem that just popped into my
head. If it sounds nice, I run to the computer to type what I
remember from the song or poem. One time, I rewrote the song
"Streets of London" in a food way, so instead of expressing
loneliness, it expressed hunger.
3. Playing on the Computer
Sometimes, when there is nothing to do, I simply play on
the computer. My favorite site is Free Rice, and once I
reached 3,000 grains of rice. Everybody in my family has
their own computer (and television) so I can play as long as
I want without anybody asking me to hurry up so they can use
the computer.
4. Making My Own Perfumes
Whenever I go to my best friend's house, we like to make
perfumes. One of us brings an empty bottle of shampoo or
soap that she saved, while the other gathers some scented
leaves or flower petals. We press on them in water inside a
plastic bowl until the smell comes out, adding more if
necessary, and then we pour it into the bottle. My favorite
one smelled like lemons. It was pale green, and it was all
natural. In the winter we can't do that because it is dark
and rainy, and we can't do that in the summer because all
the plants are dry, so the spring and fall are the best
times to do that.
5. Watching Television
On Friday evenings after dinner, my family
and I watch
"Rak Be Israel" (translation: Only in Israel) in the living
room. It is nice, watching the program with my family,
sitting on the couch, and occasionally talking.
My favorite programs are "That 70's Show", "Eretz
Nehederet" (translation; wonderful land), "Friends",
"Seinfeld", and "Everybody Loves Raymond". They are all
comedies. I love comedies.
